The Friends that Tote together…. Mekeel McBride
Mekeel McBride (poet, wildlife rehabilitator, life coach, animal whisperer, fine bric-a-brac collector) is many things. Has been many things. Is still becoming many things. She’s been a waitress, an avid roller skater, a baby squirrel mother, and a first-year teacher to some very wily high school boys at a private school. She’s known astronauts, re-incarnating cats, magicians’ doves, heartbreak, and the other side of heartbreak. Mekeel is a fellow quilter, a penpal, and a cheerleader for all poets. Mekeel has written lots of poetry that is good for all seasons and all moods and all people.
For now, Mekeel uses her tote to carry “my poems, journals, pens, and the current poetry book I’m reading.” I’m sure, in a pinch, Mekeel would use this tote to carry the wayward baby possum or stunned song sparrow.
