Half-Triangles, New Beginnings
With the sun and subsequent snow melt, it felt warm enough to open the windows today. Tilly “Willicus” & I listened to the chickadees and the metal clankings of the shipyard all afternoon. I put on the Beach Boys “Endless Summer” album to celebrate the sun (my all-time favorite Beach Boy song? “Surfer Girl.”), and I started a new quilt.
This quilt is using the leftover fabric from those zipper pouches I made for the holidays. I just made a stack of half-triangles, and am now trying to decide between making this Lodestar-style quilt… (see below for the primitive beginnings of this quilt)
…or a herringbone quilt…
For the backing, I think I’m going to use a large floral print, vintage sheet from the 70s.
When finished, this purple-grey quilt will be the perfect summer picnic/beach quilt and it’ll be the pick-me-up, Vitamin D booster quilt when it’s cold & colorless in January.
Love it!!! I think I like the herringbone the best, but, with those colors I am sure either will look great!
