International Gift Fox
Where on God’s green earth did the Gift Fox disappear to the past week or so? County Galway, Ireland, that’s where. A very green place indeed!
My grandfather (“Grumpy”) won a week-long trip to Kinvara, a small fishing village located on the captivating, wild western coast of Ireland. Grumpy took my mother, my sister, my two brothers, my brother’s fabulous girlfriend, and myself. We had so many adventures: fishing, boating, horseback riding, walking along sea cliffs, drinking the Guinness, and eating lots and lots of fresh caught seafood.
The house we stayed at had these wonderful quilts (more pics to come!). I loved discovering that they, too were hand-quilted. My sister & I bunked together, so, of course, we pushed our beds together — the better for watching “Modern Family” and whispering after lights-out. With all of the busy schedules that we have nowadays, it was a true gift to hang out with my family and make some great new memories.
With Ireland behind me, I am beginning to line up the next quilting projects (flying geese, Christmas gifts, vintage sheets quilt). The days are getting cooler, the leaves are leaving the trees, the squirrels are busy collecting & storing, and the Gift Fox is preparing for the quilting season hopefully with a Guinness or a spot o’tea near at hand.
