Pink Critters Crib Quilt
Pink critters abound for Baby Cece!
This summer, I made a pink & yellow (& grey & purple & hedgehog) quilt for my friend’s baby girl, Cecelia. Every time I see Cece, she has gotten so much bigger! She has such a beautiful, intelligent face, and I LOVE her chubby, strong legs! I can’t wait to watch her grow up.
Since Cece is growing so fast, I made sure to incorporate some of the fabrics I used for her dresses (foxes in the woods, purple rabbits). My friend was so sad when Cece recently grew out of the rabbit dress, and I wanted to give them something that could still fit into their lives.
Although I messed up on the border (again! someday I’ll sew a perfect binding!), at least it’s nice & silky. I found a beautiful Alexander Henry print for the back of this quilt, and supplemented it with some thrifty finds from JoAnn Fabrics. These thrifty finds were originally bought for my friend’s baby shower back in late February. We decorated baby onesies for her with fabric paint & iron transfer paper.
Couldn’t resist using a little magical-looking netting!
My friend very recently lost her grandmother. It brought back memories of what it was like for me last year when I lost my own Nana. Finishing this quilt last week gave me that opportunity to sew in some strength & healing for my friend and her family.
Now onto a new quilt… or two….
It is so wonderful to receive GIft Fox updates with the gorgeous pictures of your quilts. Honestly, how are you able to work so quickly–and with so much hand-stitching? I am truly amazed. And know just what you mean about stitching love into quilts. Works with cooking too. Miss you and love you! Mekeel
